Robert Wadlow, the tallest man ever, was born 100 years ago. He measured 8 feet 11.1 inches (2.72 meters) tall when last measured on June 27, 1940.

At the age of five, he was already an incredible 5 feet 4 inches (1.63 meters) tall, wearing clothes meant for teenagers. By eight, he surpassed his 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 meters) tall father.

Robert had a condition that caused his pituitary gland to overproduce growth hormone, resulting in his extreme height.

His record as the tallest man ever remains in the history books and Guinness World Records archives. Unfortunately, he died at 22 due to a septic blister on his right ankle caused by a poorly fitted brace.
